Three Halifax Storage Facilities, One Trusted Name

Metro Self-Storage operates three locations serving Halifax residents and businesses:

2618 Clifton Street is our downtown Halifax facility, ideally situated at the corner of North Street and Clifton Street in the city's North End. This location features heated (temperature-controlled) interior units ranging from 15 to 300 square feet, with a convenient drive-in bay for easy loading and unloading. Unit access is available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. This is an unstaffed facility — for in-person assistance, please visit our flagship location at 138 Chain Lake Drive.

10 Lovett Lake Court (Bayers Lake) is our newly-renovated Bayers Lake facility — Atlantic Canada's largest self-storage facility. This facility has a 4-storey building features climate-controlled units, heated units, drive-up units, and interior access units, with sizes ranging from 25 to 550 square feet. The facility includes multiple drive-through bays for loading and unloading, and offers 24/7 unit access.

138 Chain Lake Drive (Bayers Lake) is our state-of-the-art flagship facility, also in Bayers Lake. This 4-storey climate-controlled building offers units from 25 to 400 square feet, interior drive-up units, and 24/7 access. It serves as our main staffed office for the Halifax area. Office hours are Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Storage Solutions for Every Need in Halifax

Household Storage

Halifax's housing market moves fast. Whether you're between homes, downsizing, finishing a renovation, or clearing out a basement or garage, our household storage units come in a range of sizes to fit your needs — from compact 5×5 units for boxes and seasonal items to large 10×20 units capable of holding an entire household's worth of furniture and appliances. Store what you need, access it when you want.

Business and Commercial Storage

Local contractors, retailers, tradespeople, and small business owners across Halifax rely on Metro for commercial storage. Free up your office, workshop, or retail space without the cost of a larger commercial lease. Our drive-up and interior-access units make loading and unloading equipment, inventory, and supplies fast and practical. 24/7 access at our Bayers Lake locations means your storage works on your schedule.

Student Storage

Halifax is home to some of Canada's most prominent post-secondary institutions — Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University, Mount Saint Vincent University, NSCAD University, and the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) among them. Thousands of students need short-term storage between semesters, during co-op placements, or when transitioning out of residence. Our downtown Clifton Street and Bayers Lake locations are ideally positioned for student storage, with small, affordable units and flexible rentals designed to fit the academic calendar. Student discounts are available — ask when you reserve.

Climate-Controlled Storage

Nova Scotia winters are hard on belongings, and Halifax summers can be humid. Our climate-controlled units at Chain Lake Drive and Lovett Lake Court, and heated (temperature-controlled) units at Clifton Street, protect your items from temperature extremes and seasonal swings. Wine, electronics, wooden furniture, artwork, important documents, and clothing all benefit from a stable environment. If you're storing anything sensitive to cold or moisture, a climate-controlled unit is the right choice.

Drive-Up Storage

Sometimes you just need to pull up and get in. Our Bayers Lake locations offer drive-up units and drive-through loading bays, letting you load and unload directly from your vehicle. Ideal for contractors, movers, and anyone storing large or heavy items on a regular basis.

Moving and Transition Storage

Whether you're arriving in Halifax, heading out, or waiting on a possession date, Metro's flexible rentals make transition storage straightforward. Reserve your unit online before your move date, and you only start paying when you move in. No pressure to commit to a fixed term — upgrade or downsize as your needs change.
